PRESCHOOL

Ashley Academy offers a fun learning environment for preschool children 3-5 years of age. The preschool program emphasizes developmental skill building in areas of: speaking, listening, physical development, creativity, curiosity, and social awareness. Preschoolers have fun learning through self-motivated and teacher directed play. Ashley Academy Preschoolers enjoy a positive school experience in a loving and caring atmosphere, where small classes guarantee maximum success for each child.

The Preschool Program at Ashley Academy builds a strong academic foundation. The academic curriculum focuses on reading and language development, social studies, mathematics, and basic science. Children have the opportunity to work and play independently. A variety of hands-on activities help children satisfy their natural curiosity. The program introduces children to a variety of enrichment programs, including foreign language, music, art, physical education, and computers. A diverse student population fosters each child’s unique character while teaching children to respect others. Several field trips are taken to enhance the learning experience.

LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT: Preschoolers develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through small groups and individual activities. Colors, letters, shapes numbers, story time, dramatics, rhymes, songs, and learning centers are all areas of concentration for language development. Phonics, beginning journal writing, and sign language enrich this curriculum for preschoolers at Ashley Academy.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT: Preschoolers develop fine motor skills through cutting, pasting, playing, finger painting, and creative drawing. The development of large motor skills is accomplished through: dramatic play, playground activities, music, self-expression, and movement.

SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT: Preschoolers develop positive feelings about themselves, others, and the environment. Children learn to share, take turns, follow directions, become independent, and to help others. Ashley Academy students leave Preschool as well-rounded, socially and academically capable children, thus preparing them for a lifetime of successful learning.

Ashley Academy Preschool Teachers are certified in their teaching field, and chosen for their enthusiasm, creativity, and ability to understand the needs of each child.

Students attended classes 5 days a week, from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., with extended care available. Hot lunch is available, or children may bring their own lunch. A rest period is also available each day. Children entering this program must be fully potty trained.
